We have 21 participants signed up! Now, you don’t *have* to sign up for 24ZT to participate, but if you go read the participation list, you’ll realize that if you read other people’s goals, it may be the thing to get you jump-started.
So, pay the thing forward, and sign up – tell everyone else what’s driving you to make a zine in 24 hours.
June 30th, 2009 — getting started
During any consecutive 24 hours during the month of July, create a zine. Sign up here before you begin, to help motivate you into finishing. When you’re done, send us a copy of the zine, and we’ll show it off on the site.

August 4th, 2008 — getting started
As it is August 4th, we’re WAY done with the whole month of July. This can only mean one thing:
The 24 Hour Zine Thing is dooooone, for another year. For all of you who created a new zine, congratulations! You did it!

Last year was the first year that Shannon, Raven, and I handled the logistics of 24HZT, and I have to say, I think we’re learning. We should do something more exciting with the zines that show up. What if this year, we featured a new 24 hour zine or two on the blog each month? That will keep us craving the insanity until July rolls around again.
Any other ideas of what we can do to celebrate?
July 25th, 2008 — getting started
, the co-op publisher, is all hepped up and ready to rock the 24 hour zine challenge! They’re turning it into a spectator sport!
It’s going on THIS WEEKEND, so if you’re anywhere Missoula, Montana, you should GO! It would be so easy to get your zine done with other humans, glue sticks, food, and other necessary items.

June 1st, 2008 — getting started
Whether you’re ready or not, the 24 Hour Zine Thing is coming. Starting July 1, and running through to the end of the month, you can challenge yourself to create a zine in 24 hours.*
We’ll have a fresh sheet of digital paper up for incoming participants soon. And more witty blog posts as well. In the meantime, consider what it would mean to challenge yourself zinely. I’m thinking that my goal will be something much less research-heavy than last time – by either shortening it, or choosing a topic that is easier to write up in 24 hours! Start thinking now about what you’d like to tackle, so you’re ready to begin in July!

July 30th, 2007 — getting started
24 hours left! Well, more than that, but basically there’s today and tomorrow and that’s it. We’re gearing up for the awesome zines that will be coming in. We’ll blog here when we get all the scans done and the gallery up. In the meantime, you have a quick 24 to finally participate! Eee! Go do it!
July 18th, 2007 — getting started
July is half over, which means we’re rolling up on the end of 24 Hour Zine month. We’ve been trying to reach far and wide to let people know about this event, but even if you’re just discovering it now, know that it only takes a day to do the challenge, so it’s not too late to sign up!
The last day you have to make your zine is July 31. It doesn’t have to be postmarked by the 31, like taxes or college applications or anything. Just have it done by the 31st, and mail it on over to us.
July 13th, 2007 — getting started
Tonight when I checked the email and added in the new names, we topped 50 people who have signed up to stare down the face of laziness and sleep in the name of creativity and zines!
And we also got our first zine submission! Triumphantsimatism! I realize that we haven’t actually given the proper address to send the zines – but if you’re done and want to get the damned thing off before it gets lost under your bed, please, send your finished bits to:

If you want to have copies of your zine for sale through us (aka: the 24 Hour distro), send a little email our way and let us know. We’ll send you specific instructions written as icing on a cake you then have to destroy/eat.
June 28th, 2007 — getting started
With the 24 hour zine thing just around the corner, we’ve been brainstorming on how to proceed. Each year, participants get a button for their efforts. This year we’re going to continue with that, but we’re throwing in a twist. How would you like to design this year’s 24 hour zine thing button? Fame and fortune won’t be yours, but just think of how many places your button might travel!
The buttons are going to be circular 1″ wide. Bigger images will be sized down to that. If you draw it at 1″, leave a little bit of a border in your design so the edge isn’t blank. Submission will be accepted until mid-July, and then voted on. The most adored shall become this year’s zine scene button.
